SUMMARY:Oval Meltdown - 2026
DESCRIPTION:Register here\n\nHello Maritime speed skating clubs!\n\nSpeedy Kids is hosting the annual Oval Meltdown on the weekend of February 21st and 22nd in Halifax. Skaters can participate Saturday or Sunday or both days. The ice is booked from 7am to 1pm both days.\n\nOn Saturday the 21st\, there are two events: the Olympic Style Sprint Championships for Novice (age 10 & older) and Open (age 13 & older) and the All Ages Mass Start (age 4 & older). The Icy Slice Pizza Party closes the day. We are excited to host the OS Sprints again this season\, now that there are crash mats for the Oval. Please note there are minimum time standards for the OS Sprints\, so that we will have time to get in the All Ages Mass Start event too.  Skaters in the OS Sprints are welcome to participate in the All Ages MS too.\n\nOn Sunday the 22nd\, there are Marathon Racing events: a 10km for advanced (and older) skaters\, a 5km for intermediate skaters\, and a 2km for beginner (and younger) skaters.\nFurther information about the Oval Meltdown can be found on the Speedy Kids website at https://speedykids.ca/oval-meltdown-2026/ and at the IceReg registration link at https://icereg.ca/#!/events/oval-meltdown-2026. The registration deadline is Sunday February 15th at 23:30 ADT.  No late registrations will be accepted.\n\nAs always\, we need lots of volunteers to help make the Oval Meltdown a success.
